    What  we  are  working  on: UWF funding and Grants

Every year, based on the results of a national survey of women’s organizations, the UWF determines priority project directions.
The UWF is supporting women’s organizations who have projects aimed at:
  • Expanding economic opportunities for women, developing businesses run by women, and reducing unemployment among women;
  • Information exchange and sharing successful experience with women’s organizations that can facilitate the establishment and development of networks of NGOs that work on women’s issues and gender issues;
  • Developing women’s organizations in the regions, with the aim of increasing their role and creating a favorable climate for the active participation of women in the life of their community;
  • Increasing the activity of young women in community life of Ukraine, preparing future female leaders, and promoting the formation of a women’s movement among the younger generation.

Under the “Grants That Bring Together” program, the UWF, through its cooperation with foreign women’s organizations, offers the representatives of women’s organizations in Ukraine a chance to participate in international activities and key international events dealing with women’s issues and gender issues, to present the interests of Ukrainian women at the international level, and to develop and consolidate Ukrainian NGOs that are involved in women’s issues or issues of gender.

    Informational Program

Under this Program, the UWF:
  • Helps women’s organizations share information and experience, develop cooperation, and establish coalitions to solve urgent problems;
  • Carries out educational, informational and awareness-building campaigns on women’s issues and issues of gender.

The UWF has been working on the development of regional resource centres for women and women’s organizations, as well as collecting and distributing information via the Ukrainian Women’s Portal at http://portal.kiev.ua, which contains a database of Ukrainian women’s organizations, donors, specialists, news about the women’s movement, and more.

In 2005, the services provided on the Ukrainian Women’s Portal will be expanded. The UWF is planning to offer women’s organizations an opportunity to place their web-sites on this portal.

    Workshop Program

 The UWF holds workshops on project management, strategic planning, lobbying, and organizational development for women’s organizations, especially for our grantees.
