Movie "Who will  sing a lullaby…"

Whence is it possible to provide equal rights for men and women in the economic domain and, at the same time, to create conditions to combine work with the parental responsibilities? In the labor market, women are equal to men both in the level of education and level of qualifications. However, implementation of the above-mentioned possibilities depends on distribution of the family obligations between a husband and a wife to a great extent. It is not a question of traditional 'male' and 'female' work but a question of joint responsibility.

Is a paternity leave one way to solve this issue? The movie creators raise this provoking but at the same time vital issue to bring it closer to realities and needs of average citizens and to quicken interest in the advantages of joint upbringing of children in them.

In the European Union countries, a paternity leave is a norm, which is getting more and more wide-spread, is turning into a mark of a modern European lifestyle, its standard, and a part of the European culture. Existence of such a norm in the society reduces risks for women in the labor market and for the career development as well as changes attitudes in accordance with which input in the family budget is a male priority.

Even though in our country the state gives a right to the leave to take care of a new-born child not only to mothers, men on paternity leaves are still an exotic sight and a right of father to take care of his child is still nominal. But the movie protagonists prove that this right can be implemented and it is to the advantage to both a child and a family; besides, they prove that practical implementation of the gendered approaches is a guarantee of the development of the democratic values in the state.

   Movie "Not Only About Money"

Movie "Not Only About Money" was created by the Ukrainian Women's Fund together with the Center  for   Ukrainian Reform Education.

The movie gives attention to the public and charitable organizations.

The movie practically presents the role of such institutions in the revival of charity and philanthropy traditions. In particular, the movie creators stress the fact that philanthropy can exist only by virtue of its mainstream support in the society.

As long as such mutual support and mutual aid bring us together as one, our common home ― Ukraine ― will stay a stronghold.

This movie is about people living in this home, about new citizens of the new country.

NATIONAL SURVEY ON THE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BUSINESS AND CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY

This National Survey on the Social Responsibility of Business and Corporate Philanthropy, carried out by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund jointly with the Consortium for Better Management Education in Ukraine, was aimed specifically at revealing current trends in the attitudes of Ukrainian entrepreneurs and business owners towards philanthropic work, the areas where charitable assistance is being given, the nature of corporate charity policies, the forms that their charitable assistance takes, and so on.

The goals of this survey include showing some of the strategies of Ukrainian companies and corporations in providing charity, such as, what factors affect the decision to giving charity, what areas of charity work are the most interesting to business, what corporate attitudes are towards women’s projects, as well as what obstacles get in the way of developing charity work and philanthropy in Ukraine.

We hope that the results of this survey will be useful, not only to those looking for charitable assistance, but also to contemporary Ukrainian business people, organizations and institutions so that they can establish their own vision of philanthropic activity at their workplaces. After all, charity is a reflection of the moral state of a society.

The Ukrainian Women’s Fund would like to thank Mama Cash, a Netherlands foundation, for its support in carrying out this survey.
